Students are asked to keep an ethnographic journal throughout the semester to observe and analyze an aspect of society or culture. Each journal will be written in response to a prompt by the instructor. Students choose the site of their ethnography with guidance and approval from the instructor. Instructors can also incorporate a “peer review” in-class activity with this assignment and ask students to comment on each other’s journal entries.
